I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.
When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, "There's no place for a dining room table..."
B*TCH, YOU'RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.
I hated her.
Now there's some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn't want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.
WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?
Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?
Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.
I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.

The highly anticipated Dancing with the Stars cast announcement was revealed during Monday night's episode of Bachelor Pad -- and it turns out most of the rumors were true. But that doesn't mean we're not in for an exciting season!
In fact, this just might be one of the most entertaining (and controversial) groups of ballroom dancers to date. Pairings won't be officially announced until Wednesday's edition of Good Morning America, but it's never too early to start predicting who's got the goods to take home the Mirror Ball trophy. The 13th season has an impressive balance of bonafide entertainers, tabloid-favorite celebrities, and professional athletes.
And the 12 DWTS contests for Season 13 are:
David Arquette: The comedic actor and former husband of Courteney Cox is best known for his performances in Scream and Never Been Kissed.
Chaz Bono: The only child of legendary entertainers Cher and the late Sonny Bono will be the first transgendered contestant on the series.
Nancy Grace: The former criminal prosecutor and opinionated legal commentator is expected to keep hosting her show on HLN while she competes on the show.
Ricki Lake: The actress-author-birth advocate is having a great year; she recently announced her engagement and will launch another talk show next year.
Rob Kardashian: Kourtney, Kim and Khloe's younger brother works as a talent manager but occasionally steps into the limelight to appear on his family's shows.
Ron Artest: Standing at 6-foot-7, the Los Angeles Lakers forward is one of the season's two professional athletes.
Chynna Phillips: The Wilson Phillips singer is related to two Hollywood families -- her Mama and Papa John and Michelle Phillips and her Baldwin husband Billy.
Kristin Cavallari: The former star of MTV's reality series Laguna Beach and The Hills occasionally appears on TV shows but is mostly dedicated to her charity work. She's also mending as a broken, as her engagement to NFL play Jay Cutler was called off in July.
Carson Kressley: The personal stylist and television host became a household name when he starred on Bravo's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy in 2003.
J.R. Martinez: The All My Children actor suffered burns over 40 percent of his body while deployed in Iraq. When he's not on the soap he's a motivational speaker.
Hope Solo: Filling in the other pro athlete spot is the beautiful, heavily endorsed goalie of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team.
Elisabetta Canalis: She may be tabloid fodder for being George Clooney's ex, but the gorgeous model-actress is a famous TV and film personality in her native Italy.
Now the question is: Who will you be rooting for on the dance floor?

What do Britney Spears and Usher have in common? Well, they are both global superstars with a back catalogue of tunes that have kept fans dancing for a really long time and they both recently hooked up with will.i.am for tracks on their latest releases (the Black Eyed Peas mastermind worked on the pop vixen's Femme Fatale tune "Big Fat Bass"). And, if Spears has her way, she and the "OMG" singer could be hitting the road together.
When Spears sat down to talk with Sway Calloway for her "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" special — airing Sunday (April 3) at 9 p.m. ET on MTV — the singer revealed that Usher is first on her list of artists she'd like to join her on tour.
"Oh, I'm so excited. I'm really excited about going on tour, very," she explained about her forthcoming summer trek, which happens to have a spot open on the bill now that Enrique Iglesias has pulled out of the gig. "I think Usher's really great right now. I think he's really hot right now. That would be cool [to tour with him]."
The North American road trip is expected to kick off June 17 in Sacramento, California, and will run for 26 dates, winding up on August 13 in Toronto. More details will be announced soon.
The "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" special is a mixture of behind-the-scenes footage of the singer as she wraps up production on her album, which dropped this week, as well as an inside look at her life and fans. In addition, those who couldn't make Spears' recent nightclub show in Las Vegas will get to see her as she takes the stage in her latest pop incarnation.
Don't miss "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale," airing Sunday (April 3) at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
