R&B superstar Usher announced Friday (March 4) that he was donating to various charities proceeds from appearing at a private event at St. Barts linked to Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, according to a statement made to the Associated Press.

The Grammy award winner's renouncement comes after similar announcements from singers Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado, and Beyoncé, all of whom were revealed to have performed at private concerts linked to the Middle Eastern leader, who has faced open revolt and major political uprisings since February.

"I am sincerely troubled to learn about the circumstances surrounding the Nikki Beach St. Bart's event that took place on New Year's Eve 2009," Usher said of the concert, at which he appeared alongside Beyoncé but did not perform. "I will be donating all of my personal proceeds from that event to various human rights organizations."

Usher has already begun the process, having made a donation to Amnesty International, the AP reports. The exact size of the donation is not known.

The New Year's Eve gig was reportedly for Moammar's fourth son Muastassim, who an unnamed music industry source told MTV News has a history of throwing lavish parties "jammed" with supermodels.

Beyoncé, who sang at the event, donated all proceeds from her performance to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund, established in the wake of the Haitian earthquake.

"All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year's Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts for Haiti over a year ago," the "Halo" singer's publicist said in a statement to The Huffington Post. "Once it became known that the third-party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause."

Singer Nelly Furtado tweeted February 28 that she plans to make similar amends.

"In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Gadhafi clan to perform a 45 min. show for guests at a hotel in Italy," she tweeted. "I am going to donate the $."

The leader of Libya since a successful military coup in 1969, Gadhafi has reportedly lost control of much of his country as a result of widespread uprisings. The United Nations voted unanimously to refer the dictator to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Steven Tyler Opens Up About Rehab and 'American Idol'

As the longtime frontman for Aerosmith, Steven Tyler has made quite the name for himself as a diehard partier, unapologetic badboy and a lightning rod for controversy. But thanks to his gig as a judge on this season of American Idol, Tyler is finally flaunting his lovable side -- and winning over a whole new generation of fans with his notoriously kooky comments. Now, in new interviews with People magazine and Rolling Stone, Tyler is opening up about his kids, his multiple stints in rehab and his life-changing experience on American Idol.

Sober for a year-and-a-half now, after a lifetime of hard partying, a troubled relationship with his bandmates and many stints in rehab, Tyler tells People, "Left up to my own devices, I probably would have been dead several times over." He adds, using his typically colorful imagery: "If you think going out in front of high-def cameras and millions of people I'm not high on adrenaline, you're crazy... I'm stoned when that curtain drops. I just don't snort the curtain dropping. I don't snort J. Lo either, though I do breathe her in."

One wonders what Jennifer Lopez might have to say in response, but there's no denying that the three American Idol judges -- Tyler, Lopez, and Randy Jackson -- have bonded into a cohesive unit -- and the show's boffo ratings prove it.

But while Tyler and his Idol co-judges are getting along famously, things are still a bit strained with those aforementioned Aerosmith bandmates who, in the past, have tried to expel Tyler from their ranks. "Did I take this job to show the band?" he says in the interview with Rolling Stone. "F***, yeah. Not to show them, but that I can't be held hostage anymore. I will be my own hostage. The band can't throw me out."

Not surprisingly for a man with so many stories, Tyler has written a memoir, titled Does the Noise In My Head Bother You?. It hits shelves May 3, and is sure to be packed with plenty of mind-boggling anecdotes. Around the same time, he'll also be releasing the first solo single of his career, a pop tune called "Feels So Good." We would have to agree.

So a Lady and Her Monkey Walk Into a Petsmart...

I went to Petsmart yesterday to get some things for little Mary Margaret, and while I was pulling into the parking lot, I passed a lady getting out of her car with a monkey on her shoulders.

Of course I came to a screeching halt because there was a lady getting our of her car WITH A MONKEY ON HER SHOULDERS, and that's just something you don't see every day.

I proceeded to take a photo...

...but then thought it would be better to capture the craziness on video, so here it is:

Lady and Her Monkey Go to Petsmart from Karyn Bosnak on Vimeo.

When I told Mark about the lady and her monkey and showed him my movie, he said, "You really are crazy." I was like, "I'm crazy? THE MONKEY WAS WEARING A DIAPER AND PEARLS."

I mean, for real, let's put this into perspective.

Anywho, here's another photo of the lady and her monkey at the checkout counter:

I realize I now have one cat and two dogs, but at least I don't walk around with a monkey on my shoulders. (Yet.)

Lindsay Lohan to Jay Leno: Jail Sentence Was "Shocking"

Lindsay Lohan to Jay Leno: Jail Sentence Was "Shocking"

After receiving a 120-day jail sentence for violating her probation, Lindsay Lohan popped by the Tonight Show on Monday to tape a surprise interview with Jay Leno -- and the friendly crowd reportedly even greeted the embattled 24-year-old actress with a rousing standing ovation.

In the chat, which is set to air Tuesday night on NBC, LiLo opens up about her experience at the hearing, telling Leno that she finds her punishment "shocking" and feels "kind of numb" about it. Watch a clip from the interview below!

When asked for her feelings about the sentence, Lohan replies, "I think that when, you know, being young and being in the position I was in, you don't really take the time to appreciate what you have and it's all kind of a whirlwind, and people make decisions for you. But I'm not a kid anymore -- I'm 24. I've made a lot of mistakes and I recognize that. I'm in the clear now, and I feel like as long as I stay focused, then I will be able to achieve what I want to achieve."

Having received many offers to appear on talk shows since the hearing last Friday, Lohan decided to go with Leno because, as a source close to Lohan tells TMZ, "(Leno) has been nothing but good to her and her family over the years... and has always been protective of her." Apparently the Tonight Show audience felt the same way, what with that supportive standing ovation.

Along with her jail sentence, Lohan is also required to perform 360 hours of community service, including janitorial work at the L.A. County Department of Coroner's facility, a.k.a. the morgue. Lohan is currently out of jail on $75,000 bail while her lawyer appeals the sentence. Lindsay is due bakck in court June 3 to fight misdemeanor charges stemming from her alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace.
