While observers may attribute Justin Bieber's overwhelming ascension into pop superstardom this year to his boyish charm or that perfectly coiffed hair, most of the "Bieber Fever" can be traced to the chart-dominating success and catchy tunes from not one, but the two albums he released this year.

But don't confine him to the "pop star" category. When MTV News caught up with the teen phenom at a charity event for Atlanta's Q100 radio station recently, Bieber said he doesn't think of his music as a specific genre.

"Whatever comes out of my mouth is just what you guys are going to hear," Bieber explained of his lyrical stylings. "I don't know, it's not a specific type of music. Whatever music I write, I wouldn't say I'm pop or R&B or country or anything: I would just say it's just good music," he said with confidence.

To the busy 16-year-old's credit, he's been working with such a variety of artists, from Usher to Kanye West and Raekwon, and on future projects with Diddy, Lil Twist and Rascal Flatts, that the young man is certainly covering his musical bases. Not to mention the fact that he also recently introduced his legions of fans to his alter ego, rapper Shawty Mane.

With his big-screen debut, "Never Say Never," and a tour with Willow Smith on the way in 2011, in addition to whatever "good music" he puts out from all of those collaborations, the Biebs is definitely exploring all of his options.

As promised, the pop superstar tweeted a big announcement with regard to her forthcoming album, Born This Way. While others were sipping champagne to trumpet in the new year, the Gaga faithful were awaiting news from their beloved. And at midnight, the singer tweeted that her third album will be released in stores on May 23 and the first single from it will be released on February 13.

"THE SONG 2 13 11 THE RECORD 5 23 11," is all she wrote.

Along with the announcement, Gaga tweeted a new black-and-white photo in which she is nude from the waist down, with her hair blowing about, and sporting a jacket with the album's title emblazoned in what look like bedazzled jewels.

Before she made the announcement official, she teased her Twitter followers with lyrics from Born This Way, writing, "I'm beautiful in my way, 'cause God makes no mistakes/ I'm on the right track baby, I was born this way/ Don't hide yourself in regret, just love yourself and you're set/ I'm on the right track, baby, I was born this way."

This could be another stellar year for Gaga. Her last album, The Fame Monster, was the best-selling album of 2010 worldwide, selling nearly 6 million copies. She also has had seven consecutive singles that have been top 10 hits, with two of them hitting no. 1.

2010 had some great jams, and all week, MTV News has been counting down some of its best. Everything from Lady Gaga's "Telephone" and Rick Ross' "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)" to two of Kanye's West's killer My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy tracks, "Power" and "Runaway," made the top 10. But it was Usher's bombastic party jam "OMG" that rose to the top and came in at #1.

So what made that song such a party anthem? "Oh my God! That's exactly what I would say! Oh my God!" Pauly D joked about 2010's top party jam. "Dope, dope track. I love playing it. The crowd goes crazy when I play it. Usher's the man!"

Travie McCoy added: "It's a great song. It's undeniable, you know what I mean?"

"Dancing With the Stars" pro Lacey Schwimmer admitted that "OMG" was the track that got dancers, both professional and amateur, on the dance floor. "You guys got a great dance anthem," she said. "So be prepared for people who do not know how to dance just going to town!"

Producer Alex Da Kid gave props to will.i.am for the song's epic beat. "I love 'OMG.' I think it's definitely something different for Usher," he said. "And it still has all the dance performance elements Usher's known for, but it's something slightly different and done in a will.i.am kind of way, and it's different and that's why it connected to so many different people. It's a great song."

Celebrities also weighed in on their favorite jams of 2010, choosing everything from Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" and Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" to B.o.B and Hayley Williams' "Airplanes."
