How Reese Witherspoon's Advice Helped Michelle Williams

When Michelle Williams has trouble putting her problems in perspective, she remembers some advice she got from Reese Witherspoon. In the new issue of Marie Claire, the Blue Valentine actress recalls being super-stressed over the challenges of single parenthood. She was sharing her feelings with Witherspoon, one of Hollywood's savviest and most successful ladies. And after hearing about Michelle's problems, here's what Reese said:

"Yes, I understand, but think about how much more difficult this would be without the luxury of a reliable, steady income."

Now there's a perspective you don't see too often in materialistic Hollywood! Williams, 30, says that she still thinks of Witherspoon's words when she's having a rough week.

"When things are difficult for me as a single parent, I always reflect on how much harder it would be if I didn’t have money -- if I couldn’t afford a babysitter to go to yoga class or out to dinner with a girlfriend," Williams tells the magazine.

Michelle Williams has one daughter, five-year-old Matilda. Williams and Matilda's father Heath Ledger dated for three years before breaking up in 2007, two years before Ledger's tragic death at age 28.

With her critically acclaimed performance in Blue Valentine, Williams is on her way to becoming a major Hollywood star. She's even garnered the respect of another important Hollywood mama, Kate Winslet, who wishes they were BFFs.

"She and I are quite intimate in my fantasy friendship, built on admiration and respect," Winslet confesses to Marie Claire.
